The San Angelo Christmas Parade of Lights is a favorite event for many of the residents. Each year the Volunteer Services Council enters two floats, one filled with the San Angelo State Supported Living Center Choir and residents and the other float is filled with with staff, friends and family of the Living Center. This is just one of many events centered around the enjoyment of the residents of the Living Center that the VSC hosts.

Each year the VSC invests over $30,000 into programs and events at the facility that directly affect the residents. The VSC also provides basic needs such as clothing, underwear, coats and shoes. Beyond the basics, the organization provides fun events, parties, swimming outings, birthday meals and so much more.

Volunteer Services Council is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to working with families, staff and the community to enrich the lives of the residents of San Angelo State Supported Living Center by providing fiscal and human resources beyond that which is provided by the state. The state provides the necessities - food, shelter and medical services. The VSC provides for resident needs outside of that realm.

The VSC is an independent organization and is not funded by the state, but relies on donations and grants from
the community.
