The photo says it all - welcome! The Volunteer Services Council cares and supports the residents who live at the SSLC! The facility cares for over 150 people with Intellectual and Mental Disabilities ranging in age from 14 to 96.
Each year the VSC invests over $30,000 into programs and events at the facility that directly affect the residents. The VSC also provides basic needs such as clothing, underwear, coats and shoes. Beyond the basics, the organization provides fun events, parties, swimming outings, birthday meals and so much more.
Volunteer Services Council is a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization dedicated to working with families, staff and the community to enrich the lives of the residents of San Angelo State Supported Living Center by providing fiscal and human resources beyond that which is provided by the state. The state provides the necessities - food, shelter and medical services. The VSC provides for resident's needs outside of that realm.
The VSC is an independent organization and is not funded by the state, but relies on donations and grants from
the community.
